HACBM won an international competition for the design of Shindagha, a high-profile integrated community developed and inspired by local social and religious values. The complex is composed of 800 residential apartments, 900,000 square feet of retail space, a 300-room hotel, a civic building, 400,000 square feet of office space, and parking for 3,000 cars.

This Shindagha project is prominently located within the central business district and along the Khor Dubai, a vital watercourse leading to the Arabian Gulf. Although the existing “mud hut” housing stock has been razed, the historic Sheikh Saeed’s Palace and six mosques remain as significant landmarks within the development. An extensive pedestrian system links the project’s interior and the waterfront, and is anchored by a marina located near the palace.
