Architecture

Full design and construction of a new branch bank in South Brunswick with a warm, terra cotta brick exterior, a hip roof and open gable accents. The branch bank has modular divided light fenestration elements and white trim and fascia that integrate the building with its two adjacent residential community and commercial zoned uses. A forest green tile accent band provides a tasteful color splash that ties the bank’s signature colors with the natural environment. The bank features a five lane drive-in for improved service levels, a textured floor in the teller and vestibule area, as well as interesting interior millwork utilizing mahogany and glass in the lobby and between offices.

Site work for the project included the design of a new, tiered retaining wall, storm drainage, and landscaping. Working in close cooperation with the Township prior to approval for this new building, First Union agreed to install a large, bituminous bike path for use of local residents, as well as to widen the public street and move a traffic light to improve traffic flow on New Road. The General Contractor for this project was Wade Ray and Associates of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey.
